Our Mission at St. Joseph's Elder Services Is To Live and To Promote The Healing Mission of Jesus Christ.

My mother was living there and passed recently. The staff was wonderful and took great care of her. Very clean facility. They went above and beyond. In her final days they were respectful and made her feel as comfortable as possible. She loved living there.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have you ever had a question and didn’t know where to find the answer? If so, you’ve come to the right place.

  • I’m not Catholic. Why should I live at St. Joseph’s Retirement Community?

St. Joseph’s Retirement Community has never been solely for Catholics. Over the years, only about 60 percent of our residents have been Catholic. St. Joseph’s Retirement Community has established a tradition of caring for all, regardless of race, creed, or color; long before it became required by law. We provide an opportunity for all to live in a caring, Christian environment.

  • I’m not sick. Why should I move?

St. Joseph’s Retirement Community is not just for the frail elderly. Many of our residents require little or no assistance. We provide a lively atmosphere of social, educational, and spiritual activities aimed at the “young at heart.” Independence and self-reliance is encouraged.

  • Do I need to give up my independence?

Our retirement community does not restrict your lifestyle. On the contrary, you may find that you’re even more active with the daily chores of cooking, cleaning, and laundry taken care of for you. You may come and go as you please. For your security, the main doors are locked at night. Your guests are welcome anytime and may stay as long as you wish.

  • Will I lose my privacy by moving to St. Joseph’s Retirement Community?

No. Your apartment is your home and is respected as such by the other residents and staff. All apartment doors are equipped with locks.

  • May I bring my furnishings and decorations?

Absolutely! While St. Joseph’s Retirement Community has furniture available for short-term stays, each resident usually brings their own home furnishings. This is your new home, so please feel free to decorate it to your own taste.

  • Will nursing home insurance cover my living expenses at St. Joseph’s Retirement Community?

Possibly. Each policy is unique. Please check with your insurance representative.

  • Does St. Joseph’s Retirement Community accept individuals who rely on Medicaid?

Yes. We accept Medicaid or Medicaid Waiver funds
if an individual applies for and is approved through the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services. St. Joseph’s Retirement Community is Medicaid Waiver Certified. Please note that Medicaid is different from Medicare. Medicare will not cover living expenses.

  • What type of activities are available?

Activities offered to our residents vary greatly and are customized based on resident preference. We organize outings such as trips to the park, scenic country drives, and shopping trips. We bring in musicians and other entertainers on a routine basis. St. Joseph’s Retirement Community has an active card club, movie room, and our Activity Room has a fully-equipped kitchen available for baking activities.
